Faculty and Academics of Gujarat National Law University
The faculties at Gujarat National Law University are very experienced in their respective field. The faculties are also young which helps in the process of understanding the young minds and teaching them well. Most of the faculties have a well established research background and time to time take assistance from students to help them in their research work which also helps student community to contribute something to the development of law.
The Gujarat National Law University believes in research based approach. Therefore they encourage the students to take up research papers and give credit marks to those students who fair well. They also provide the students with opportunity to work with various research institutes.
Apart from that the Gujarat National Law University also conducts various number of credit courses on subjects like maritime, Air and Space law, Sports and Entertainment law, Japanese law, courses on taxation, IFSCs, Criminology, Arbitration and other variety of fields.
The class timings are from 9am to 2 pm which gives students enough space for other activities. The semester also has mid semester exams which reduces the burden of the student during end semester.
So the academics of Gujarat National Law University is designed to make each of its student develop into a personality with a holistic understanding of law through its research based approach.
Student Culture and Activities
The Moot culture in the Gujarat National Law University is brilliant. The university students always excel in national level moots and give a tough competition in international moot. Gujarat National Law University also won the recent edition of Mooting premier league sidelining all the other major law schools. It also conducts its own International moot competition annually.
The Gujarat National Law University has a Student Activities Committee (SAC) which is very active and conducts all kinds of extra-curricular activities on the campus. Under SAC there are 13 clubs which include music club, dance club, theatre club, literature club, drawing club, gaming club, etc. and each of those club have their members selected through auditions and put up performances through the semester. They conduct events like Footloose, Grooves, Acoustic Night, and Karaoke night, Etc.
The SAC also conducts one of the biggest law school annual cultural fest “PENTAGRAM” every year. More than 20 colleges across India had come to participate in the events. The last time Pentagram featured Amit Trivedi on the last day of the fest.
Apart from cultural activities, there are Debate club and MUN club as well. These are active groups which discuss about various contemporary issues and socio-economic problems in the current world. They also conduct international debate and MUN competitions annually.
The Gujarat National Law University also has a very active Sports committee which is responsible for the sports activities happening in the campus. It conducts various sports tournaments like futsal, supersixes, volleymania, chess, carom, snooker tournaments, etc. the committee also conducts its annual sports fest “Justice League” which is one of the best sports fest among law schools.
The campus offers very good sports facilities like ground for all the sports, lights, equipments, gym and there are recreational room in each hostels to play indoor games. Gujarat National Law University provides grants and encourages the students in every way to participant in sports activities and to improve themselves,
Gujarat National Law University is located in Gandhinagar, which is the capital of the Gujarat. It is located in an area which is known as Knowledge Corridor along with five to six other educational institutes. The campus is away from the city which gives its students a pollution free environment. The stores and eateries are 3kms away from the college and are well connected through autos and rickshaws.
The Bhaijipura bus depot is just 2 km away from the campus. The airport as well is well connected from the college by the expressway.
Gujarat National Law University has a recruitment committee which starts working with the second year students till their final year for their placement. The placement record of the committee is very impressive with more than 20 students getting placed in their 4th year annually. And most of those placements are from top two tier firms.
Most firms which come for campus interview are top tier firms. They accept nothing other than best performers.
The committee also sends out various internship opportunities to their student’s community from across the country. They also help a student get any particular internship.
Administration and Fees
The overall cost of the one-year LL.B. programme is around 1.5 – 2 lakh including accommodation, canteen fee, etc. The canteen food is far better than any other institutions.
The administration time and again holds meeting with the student community to know about the problems faced by the students. They reach out to students to solve their problems.
Tell us about the infrastructure of your college
The Infrastructure of Gujarat National Law University is really good. It has an administrative block, academic block, canteen, night mess, girls hostel, boys hostel, auditorium and moot court halls.
Gujarat National Law University library is really big and has books of all subjects. It is open till 12 am. During exams they keep open a separate room till 2 am for studying.
There is also a cafeteria and a multi utility store which is newly opened. The night mess operates till 2 am. The students can stay awake till late night and study and when they feel hungry they can hit the night mess.
Best things about your law school
The semester is well planned that it gives enough free time to students to do their hobbies. If you are a musician or a dancer or a sportsperson and does not want to leave out your extra-curricular activities while studying law, Gujarat National Law University is the best place to do it. Life is made easier in Gujarat National Law University nevertheless need to work hard to strive excellence as GNLU is a collection of multi talented students.
Worst things about your law school
There is not much worse things about Gujarat National Law University except the conditions during summers as there is no AC in the hostel. In summers the climate becomes really hot.
And also the Wi-Fi connectivity gets little slow at times. Since it’s a research based institution the Wi-Fi connectivity should be improved.
