Duration and Timings

I applied for this internship for the month of December, 2016. Office is from Monday to Saturday and timings are 9:30 am to 6 pm. The court visit is usually between Monday to Friday.

First-day impression, Infrastructure and formalities

Office is located at C- 144 Mangal Marg, Bapu Nagar, Jaipur, Rajasthan. The office is located on the ground floor. Sir is generous and his hospitality skills are considerable. I was served with some delicious snacks and a cup of tea. Then he inquired about my college, about my interests and future plans. Then he briefed me about the work.

Best things

There is a good connectivity so transportation is not an issue for reaching the office. Although I had my own vehicle. The best thing about this internship is that one gets perfect practical knowledge of the consumer law. Sir usually takes students along with him to the court where one can witness the live court proceedings. Also, you get to interact with clients as well as many other lawyers at the commission. Besides all this, sir also narrates his life experiences to the interns which is inestimable.

Main Tasks

On the first day Advocate DM Mathur briefed us about the work. We were assigned case files on daily basis. We had to research on them, make case briefs & reports. Further we were directed to find out the relevant judgments. We were assigned the task of drafting the case files for the District forum, State Commission as well as National Commission. On a daily basis we used to discuss the cases with Advocate DM Mathur . We used to find various rulings of the Apex Court on housing board matters, on costing, insurance related matters.

Work environment and people

There were 5 interns along with me. The work environment was congenial. One was free to ask his doubts. As the office timings were not stringent and on could leave early if needed, the work environment was relaxed and everyone was friendly.

Bad things

According to my experience, there was no bad thing in this internship

Overall it was a very learning experience and I would personally recommend anyone interested in interning specially for 1st year students. This internship gives best practical experience to the students in the first year of their college
