First day impression, infrastructure and formalities
The main office of Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority is of fairly adequate size with different rooms allotted to each department. All the interns were collected and given a general brief of what their duties shall be. From the second day we were to report at the office in High Court and mark our attendance there daily.

We were instructed to submit a report on any one particular recent legal topic as well as our daily interactions and visits to the District and High Court. The delivery of the internship certificate was contingent on submission of our reports to the Secretary of District Legal Services Authority.

Best things
The best thing was the nature of field work we given during our period of internship. It included visits to Juvenile justice board, children’s home, mental asylum, mediation centre and Central Jail.

Main tasks
Work included preparing the daily log of our activities at the Authority, understanding the working and provision of legal aid to legal aid beneficiaries, and observing the court and mediation proceedings in District Court and Mediation Centre respectively.

Work environment and people
The environment is easy-going with no strict rules or compulsion. The staff was really helpful and always greeted with a smile. There were interns from different law colleges who made good peeps to hang out with.

Bad things
There was nothing bad in particular.

Overall it was a learning experience and I would say it’s a good place to intern at for Ist year students.
