Entering temple despite the ban, SEC is directed to take stringent measures: Karnataka HC

The Hon’ble division bench comprising of Hon’ble Chief Justice Abhay Oka and Hon’ble Justice Suraj Govindaraj while hearing to a PIL filed by the city-based Letzkit Foundation and Githa Misra, an intervener and after going through a report submitted by the Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru district directed the state government to issue direction to all temples through the Muzrai department to ensure that ban on entry into temples is not violated by anyone.

The Hon’ble court further added that “no exception must be made for anyone and this matter must be an eye-opener for everyone disregarding lockdown rules”

It is further ordered that ” if SEC under Disaster Management Act, 2005  directs temples to be closed for public they apply to all without any exceptions”

It is further directed  by the Hon’ble court that “The present order is in force till June 21, while issuing further orders, the SEC must ensure that stringent measures are provided and taken against those who violate the ban on entry into temples.”
