Ghaziabad FIR: Karnataka HC Defers Order In Twitter India Head's Challenge To UP Police Notice Till July 20th

Earlier this week the Karnataka High Court had deferred pronouncement of its order in the petition that was filed by the Managing Director of the Twitter Communications India Private Ltd, challenging the notice that was issued to him under Section 41A of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (hereinafter referred to as “Cr. P.C, 1973”) in Ghaziabad FIR.

Justice G. Narender opined that he will dictate the order the next week, on 20th July 2021, only after going through the judgements on the issue regarding jurisdiction.

The Hon’ble judge while declaring the date for the order to be passed, reserved the matter for discussion on an urgent basis to acknowledge the contention by both the parties over 4 days.

On 24th June 2021, the court had in a way restrained the Uttar Pradesh Police from taking any coercive action against Maheshwari, according to the notice that was issued to him under Section 41A Cr. P.C, 1973 in the Ghaziabad FIR.

The interim order that was passed by the High court was subsequently challenged by the Police before the Hon’ble Supreme Court. However, the matter is yet to be heard.
