Karnataka High Court starts Live Streaming of Court Proceeding on Youtube from today

The Hon’ble Karnataka High Court has decided to start the live-streaming proceedings of the court hearings from today (31st May 2021) on Youtube on a trial basis. Using a similar approach of the Hon’ble Gujarat High Court who at last year also commenced the live-streaming proceedings of the Court on Youtube.

This announcement of the Hon’ble High Court comes in the backdrop of the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s verdict on Swapnil Tripathi v. Supreme Court of India, allowing the live streaming of the Court hearings. The Hon’ble Court in the same case observed that the “Sunlight is the best disinfectant”.

Among the other Hon’ble High Courts, the Allahabad High Court and the Madhya Pradesh High Court will also hear this week the requests of legal journalists who have moved before the Hon’ble High Courts seeking to continue the efficacy of Open Court concept even during the virtual hearing of the Court. Thus, the Bench of Hon’ble Justice Pankaj Naqvi of the Allahabad High Court will be going to hear the matter on tomorrow (1st June, 2021) and the Bench of Hon’ble Justice Sheel Nagu and Hon’ble Justice Gurpal Singh Ahluwalia of Madhya High Court will be going to hear the matter on today (31st June, 2021).
