SC Upheld The Notices By RBI To Bank To Disclose Information Under RTI

The Hon’ble Supreme Court refused the demand of Punjab National Bank and Union Bank of India to put a stay on the right to information notices issued to them by the central bank of India so that they may disclose information related to defaulters list, inspection reports, and other such.

The Hon’ble bench consisting of Hon’ble Justice S Abdul Nazeer and Hon’ble Justice Krishna Murari issued notice on the demand filed by both the banks along with similar petitions which were earlier filed by the State Bank of India and other private banks such as HDFC Bank, Axis Bank where the Hon’ble court had refused reliefs to those banks also.

The banks are challenging the order of RBI where it asks to disclose the information to them under Section 11(1) of the Right to Information Act, 2005. Section 11 provides authority to the Central Public Information Officer to the detail from a third party.
