Telangana HC Judges Strength To Increase From 24 To 42 With The Final Approval Of Hon’ble CJI N.V. Ramana

The proposal to increase the strength of Hon’ble Judges of the Hon’ble High Court of  Telangana was first taken up on 17th February 2019 with the endorsement of both the Chief Minister and the then Governor of  Telangana to Union Minister of Law and Justice was pending since then.

Subsequently, after being appointed as the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, Hon’ble CJI N.V. Ramana reviewed the matters which long pending before the Hon’ble high court’s, likewise, the Hon’ble CJI after taking into consideration long-pending matters stated that the Union Minister of Law and Justice and Hon’ble Prime Minister should look into the matter and henceforth the Hon’ble CJI draw the attention of the Union Minister of Law and Justice and Hon’ble Prime Minister at piling up of the pending cases before the Hon’ble High Court of Telangana. 

Furthermore, the Hon’ble CJI while addressing the issue of pending cases before the Hon’ble High Court of Telangana assured that the long-pending matter before the Hon’ble HC will be examined expeditiously. 

In addition, the Hon’ble CJI also draw the attention of the Union Minister of Law and Justice and Hon’ble Prime Minister on 27th May 2021 wherein the Hon’ble CJI highlighted and addressed the issue of pending cases and observed that even if the vacancies of the Judges in the Hon’ble High Court of Telangana are occupied the hike in pending cases are alarmingly high, in continuation the Hon’ble CJI also said that only if there is a hike in the sanctioned strength of the Judges of the Hon’ble High Court then-pending cases can be better handled. 

Likewise, on 7th June 2021, the Union Ministry of  Law and Justice considered the proposal made by the Hon’ble CJI for the hike in the strength of Hon’ble Judges of the Hon’ble High Court of Telangana. 

Needful to mention that the Hon’ble CJI on 8th June 2021 has given his final approval on the proposal.
