The appointment of five additional judges to the Rajasthan High Court

The appointment of five new justices to the Rajasthan High Court has been announced by the central government. Farzand Ali, Sudesh Bansal, Anoop Kumar Dhand, Vinod Kumar Bharwani, and Madan Gopal Vyas are the five new judges.

Vinod Kumar Bharwani and Madan Gopal Vyas are judicial officers, whereas Farzand Ali, Sudesh Bansal, and Anoop Kumar Dhand are lawyers.

On September 1, 2021, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the names of all but Ali for nomination.

The Collegium originally recommended Farzand Ali in July of this year. On September 20, 2021, it was reaffirmed.

The Rajasthan High Court has a sanctioned strength of 50 judges, but as of October 1, it was operating with only 23 judges, a vacancy rate of more than 50%.
