Pegasus Snooping Row: SC says setting up a probe panel, formal order next week

The CJI of the honourable Supreme Court of India has asserted that an expert committee will be set up to inquire about Pegasus snooping case.

The Supreme Court expressed concerns over technical experts’ difficulties in being part of the team citing personal reasons. In consequence of this, some time is required to form an expert committee and to pass the order on the same.

However, the Sc has confirmed that the order shall be passed by next week.

Replying to the petitions, the Centre said that this issue revolved around national security, due to which it did not want an affidavit to be filed in the court of law and to make it a matter of public discourse but is inclined to get the matter inquired by an expert committee. Thus it requested the court to allow the matter to be dealt with by the committee.

The petitioners, on the other hand, have disagreed with the proposal of the formation of the committee.

The Sc reserved its 13th September order and said that it will decide the order within 2-3 days.
