Bollywood Actor Sonu Sood has recently moved to the Supreme Court challenging the Bombay High Court decision to reject his appeal. The Bombay High Court dismissed his appeal against a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) notice over an alleged illegal construction at his residential building in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Advocate Vineet Dhanda who represents the actor said that this order was an “attempt to tarnish Sood’s image”. In the High Court, it was argued that no changes were made that warrant permission from the BMC. The only changes that were done according to the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act. The Bombay High Court headed by Justice Prithviraj Chavan on the 21st rejected the plea by Sood by stating that the law only law helps only those who are diligent. According to the BMC, the actor had illegally carried out structural changes in “Shakti Sagar” a six-story residential building, and converted it into a hotel without the required permissions. The BMC earlier this month also filed a complaint at the Juhu police station, seeking an FIR against this illegal construction. The police are yet to register FIR for this case.
