Anna Hazare calls off indefinite fast after negotiations with the Central Govt

Social activist Anna Hazare has recently cancelled his planned fast against the three central agricultural laws. According to a letter he sent to the Prime Minister that this was to be the last planned indefinite hunger strike of his life. It was to take place in his village Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra. Since the Prime Minister and the Union Agricultural Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar did not reply to his letter, he decided to do the hunger strike. The hunger strike which was supposed to be from 30th January was cancelled due to intervention by former Maharashtra chief minister and senior BJP leader, Devendra Fadnavis. The Central Government has given into some of the Social activist’s demands. One of them was to set up a committee to improve the lives of farmers. This committee would be comprised of former members of NITI Ayog, the Agricultural Ministry, and other members recommended by the activist.
