A Single Judge Bench of Justice S V Kotwal of the Bombay High Court will be hearing the bail applications filed by actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty in the NDPS case (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) who have been in jail for nearly 3 weeks charged for drug trafficking linked to the Sushant Singh Rajput’s case.
Previously, Advocate Satish Maneshinde argued for the applicants stating that the NCB (Narcotic Control Bureau) has no jurisdiction to handle the case after it being shifted to the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) by the Supreme Court of India.
NCB Responded to this statement by asserting that the NCB has the jurisdiction to investigate the case against her and several others including her brother Showik Chakroborty.
NCB further asserted that the Supreme Court directed the CBI to take over the investigation if any new case was registered “on the death of Sushant Singh Rajput and the surrounding circumstances of his unnatural death” and the direction was “not with respect to the present case” registered under the provisions of the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act), 1985
