Children friendly centre at Kerala Police Stations: DGP

The DGP (Director General of Police) of Kerala, Loknath Behera inaugurated child-friendly centres at 15 police stations in the state to create an atmoshphere where children can lodge complaint without fear of anything. The centre was inaugurated virtually and the event was attended by various seniors via video-conferencing. The centres were inaugurated at Chadayamangalam, Pathanapuram, Anchal in Kollam district, Infopark police station, Cyber Police Station, Women`s Police Station in Ernakulam Ottapalam, Malampuzha in Palakkad district, Nilambur, Tanur, Changaramkulam in Malappuram district, Panur in Kannur district and Adhoor, Rajapuram and Badiyadukka in Kasaragod district.

The aim of Police officials was to make the environment friendly for children coming to police station for any reason. This concept was launched in 2006. The said centres will help the children and all other understand the working of police in a better way and will also reduce the gap between children, police and community people.

Currently 85 police stations in the state have such children friendly centres. The state DGP assured that it will be implemented at 12 more stations within 3 months and the aim is to launch at Police stations in the state of Kerala.

He also released a book named “Professor Pointer – The Answer to Cyber Issues” by Nandan Pillai on the auspicious day of Cyber Dome to shed light on the pitfalls of the cyber world.
