The Common Law Admission Test commonly known as the CLAT exam is a centralized National level entrance exam for admissions into the top National Law colleges offering integrated course of law with any other undergraduate degree. CLAT was first introduced in 2008 as a centralized exam for admission in the top National Law Schools and since then this exam is being held without any delay. CLAT is considered to be one of the top 10 toughest entrance exams in India, with an acceptance rate of only 10%.

CLAT (UG):

  • Common law admission test often referred to as the CLAT exam has two main categories or is held for two main groups namely; CLAT UG and CLAT PG.
  • CLAT UG mainly focuses on a variety of subjects ranging from English, Current Affairs, while CLAT PG is more specialized in law subjects like Constitutional Law.
  • CLAT UG is an undergraduate exam for law aspirants who desire to pursue a 5-year integrated law course (BA LLB, BBALLB, BCOMLLB) from any of the NLUs.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR CLAT UG

  • Age Limit:
  • There is no upper age limit for candidates applying for the UG-CLAT 2025 examination.
  • Minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent)
  • Applicants should have secured a minimum percentage of marks given below in 10+2 or its equivalent examination. Category-wise minimum percentage of marks required to apply for the exam is given in the table below.

Candidates who are going to appear in the qualifying exam (10+2 or its equivalent) in March/April, 2025 can apply for CLAT 2025 exam. However, they should produce evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission.

Candidates should submit their results (i.e., 10+2 or its equivalent) at the time of admission. If candidates do not submit their results as and when made mandatory, they will become disqualified for admission.

Note:

If candidates score equal marks in the CLAT examination, then to break the tie, the procedure and order given below will be followed.
