Supreme Court directs modification of Telangana High Court order on ban of firecrackers

The two Judge bench of Telangana High Court comprising of Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and Justice B Vijayasen Reddy gave direction to ban selling of crackers in the state during upcoming festival Deepavali.

The court today ordered to shut the shops selling crackers and punish those who do not follow. It also asked the government to make people aware about the reason to ban crackers.

This order was result of writ filed by Advocate Indra Prakash as party in person. The PIL was filed seeking direction for ban of crackers during Deepavali and also complained that crackers emit lots of pollution and that would cause problems for patients suffering from respiratory disease and COVID-19 affected persons.

The bench also observed that states like Rajasthan, Delhi, etc have already banned crackers this festive season, and also mentioned the decision of Supreme Court in upholding the decision of West Bengal High Court.
