Sushant Singh Rajput case: No complaint against Meetu Singh, Priyanka Singh to be probed says Bombay HC

Nilesh Navalkha, a filmmaker has filed  complaint against various news channels at the NBSA(News Broadcasting Standards Authority) in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

The channels are India Today, Times Now, Zee News, ABP News, News18, News Nation, to name a few.

The complaint has been made against Aaj Tak for making publications on the character of the accused, Rhea Chakraborty, which has led to prejudice against her during an on-going trial.

Against Republic TV for definitely claiming that Rhea Chakraborty has played a role in the death of the late actor.

Against Times Now and India TV, they displayed the body of the late actor against the WHO and PCI guidelines which acts as an obstacle in the administration of justice and influence the mind of the public at large.

Zee News interviewed and cross examined 8 witnesses who were to be examined by the CBI. They have also revealed call logs to the public of these witnesses. Now this is not only interfering with an on-going trial but is also a violation of Article 21, which includes right to privacy of the witnesses.

ABP news is alleged to have interviewed the ambulance driver regarding the positioning of the hanging body.

Media is the fourth pillar of democracy but their right to speech should not be practiced in such a way that they are immune to make publications during an ongoing investigation. This sort of a media trial also goes against the rights of the accused, as held in the case of Anukul Chandra Pradan v. Union of India, 1996 (6) SCC 354.
