Advocate G Vaman Rao and his wife, who are both practicing lawyers in the Telangana High Court, were stabbed to death by a few unidentified assailants in broad daylight in Peddapalli district, on the 17th. The assailants were said to have attacked them using knives near a village in Ramagiri Mandal, at about 2.30 pm stated the Telangana Police. The assailants were also able to flee the scene after the attack. The couple is said to have died on the way while being rushed to a hospital. Before he died, Vanam Rao was able to name Junta Srinu, a Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader as a probable suspect for the attack. Police say a search for the accused is underway and a hunt has also been launched.
Telangana BJP state president Bandi Sanjay alleges that the killing was done by the TRS goons. The couple was targeted since they spoke out against the State government and other party leaders and so they were silenced.
