IPS officer in UP suspended for Kanpur Encounter, links Vikas Dubey

The government of UP has suspended an IPS officer Anant Dev on an allegation of having a link with Vikas Dubey. He was the SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) Kanpur during operation against Vikas Dubey at Bikru Village in July in which 8 policemen were killed.

The action was taken against SSP after SIT (Special Investigation team) recommended it over his alleged relation with gangster Vikas Dubey and his involvement in the said incident.

SIT was formed by the UP Government for investigating the incident in which 8 policemen were killed in bikru Village in Chaubeypur area.

Vikas Dubey was arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Police on July 9 from the premises of the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain. After that, he was shot dead by the UP police in an encounter when he attempted to flee while in transit from Ujjain to Kanpur.
