About the Job :
Bay Counsel LLP is a boutique law firm based in Bombay, with a focus on General Corporate, Taxation, Technology, Media and Entertainment Laws. They are hiring a Junior Associate (1 to 2 years PQE) to join their Media, Entertainment and Technology Practice at Bay Counsel LLP.
Eligibility :
(i) LL.B./LL.M. from a recognized Indian university
(ii) Prior experience in commercial contracting with exposure to media, entertainment, or technology-related work.
(iii) Strong interest in contracting as an intellectually engaging (cerebral) activity with genuine enjoyment in drafting.
(iv) Ability to critically analyze language, structure, leverage, risk allocation, and commercial outcomes.
(v) Expertise in customizing and refining contracts/templates to suit specific client and transaction needs.
(vi) Focus on commercial awareness and strategic thinking, rather than relying solely on standard precedents.
Responsibility :
(i) Drafting-intensive role involving first drafts, revisions, and high-volume commercial agreements across media, entertainment, and technology.
(ii) Requires ability to work quickly without compromising clarity or quality, while handling multiple agreements.
(iii) Should be self-driven, responsive, and take strong ownership of work and responsibilities.
(iv) Focus on intelligent risk navigation, aligning contracts with client objectives rather than just risk identification.
