The Additional District Judge (SC/ST) Jagdish Kumar of Lalitpur District after hearing the arguments of prosecution and defense, pronounced the sentence to occultist Rahul Prajapati of Talbehat police station. The victim in the case was a Dalit woman who was raped by the occultist on the night of June 7th, 2018.
The case was going on since 2 and ½ year on the pretext of raping a woman by flogging her to cure her. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 10, 000 on him
The facts of the case were that when the victim was ill, the occultist took her on the pretext to treat her with his unscientific techniques and raped her. He was arrested by the Talbehat police and was sent to jail.
