Literal Meaning

When there is no ambiguity in words, then no exposition contrary to the expressed words is to be made.

Explanation

The literal meaning of the maxim itself is capable to explain this maxim. While reading something if there is any kind of ambiguity in the words, then the words should not be interpreted in its wide sense and no exposition contrary to the expressed words should be made.
