Uttarakhand Government asked to share details on Mahakumbh preparations by Nainital HC

The Mahakumbh is set to be held next year, 2021 in the holy city of Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Regarding this, the High Court of Uttarakhand has sought details of the preparations done so far, by the State Government.

This came in, after the High Court was hearing public interest petitions on the condition of the quarantine centres located in the State.

The main concern of the High Court is to gather details on the readiness, measures and preparations done by the Uttarakhand Government for organizing the Mahakumbh amid the Covid pandemic.

The State Government has been asked to file an affidavit stating the measures taken and its preparedness regarding holding the Mahakumbh given the coronavirus scare.

Several meetings, headed by the CM of Uttarakhand have been held regarding the same and to ensure appropriate steps are taken keeping in mind the safety of the pilgrims. Currently, there is a plan to allow only those pilgrims into the Mahakumbh Mela who test Covid-19 negative.
