Chief Justice of India SA Bobde on Wednesday assured that a measure will be sent to the advocates / party-in-person on the same day for a virtual hearing of the cases listed before the Supreme Court. “We will issue proper instructions. Everyone will get a link,” CJI affirmed in view of the difficulty expressed by an advocate after the SC decision not to share the link of VC via WhatsApp. Advocate KK Mani said the CJI Mentioning that it is becoming difficult for lawyers to get links under the new system. Through a circular dated 27 February, the SC decided to stop sharing the VC link through WhatsApp.
The Registry said that from March 1, the links for virtual hearings in the apex court will be shared on the respective Advocate-on-Record and registered email IDs and mobile numbers of the party-in-person.
This step was taken in view of the Guidelines and Code of Conduct of Digital Media) Rules, 2021.
Noting that the above system of link sharing is not effective, Mani informed the nephew that the link was sent to him by the SCAORA secretary for today’s hearing and that he had not received any information from the registry.
He further said that forward links do not always work, thereby denying advocates from registering attendance
