For the three controversial farm bills, a bench guided by CJI SA Bobde gave a heads up to execute the bills. Further, the Supreme Court appointing a three-member committee to scrutinize these bills and the report for the same submitted in a sealed cover as reported by the ANI.
The farm laws studied for about three months by the President of Shetkari Sanghatana Anil Ghanwat, agricultural economist Pramod Kumar Joshi and agriculturist Ashok Gulati. Post this period, a report submitted on the same. Due to the order given by CJI SA Bobde concerning the disputed farm bills, farmers, specifically from Punjab and Haryana, have been engaged in protest against these bills at the Delhi borders since November 2020.
Following the Supreme Court, it ordered for implementation the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of price assurance and farm services act, 2020, the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill and lastly, the Amendment to the Essential Commodities Act until any additional order.
Moreover, Bhupinder Singh Mann, the National President of the Bhartiya Kisan Union, recused from the committee post the concerns raised over the opinions indicated by the members of the committee.
