Allahabad HC Orders To Stop Encroachments On Kabaristan By Ant-social Elements

On 21st October, the bench of Allahabad High Court, consisting of Justice Shashi Kant Gupta and Justice Pankaj Bhatia ordered strict action to be taken against the SHO (Station House officer) of the Phoolpur police station, Prayagraj.

This matter came into light when a gang- rape survivor filed a writ petition regarding the laxity shown by the police officials in not registering an FIR for three whole months after the incident took place.

The bench directed the SSP (senior superintendent of police) to ensure that FIRs be registered promptly, particularly when the matters related to women and children. Further, to provide adequate protection to the survivor and her family and to ensure swift investigation in the matter. Lastly, the SSP was also ordered to monitor the investigation in order to avoid any time-barred obstacles and to ensure fairness in the same.
