On Monday, the Bombay High Court has directed the Maharashtra Govt. to take the responsibility of providing special online education for disabled children within state through Doordarshan.
A PIL was filed by NGO expressing the concern over the problems faced by differently abled children in the amidst of Covid-19 situation. The counsel for petitioner Udaya Varunjikar has contended that the disabled students are not able to get their education due to lack of staff & mobile facilities during this pandemic.
He further suggested that, if Local government channels & Radio could be used to provide education to such students.
The matter was hearing before a division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta comprising with Justice G.S. Kulkarni and has said to “Find a solution. It is the responsibility of the State Govt. You can take One or two hour slots on Doordarshan and show special learning programs.”

Therefore, the matter was listed up for January 18 and the court has directed the State to consider the suggestion given by the Petitioner’s Counsel and submit its report till next hearing.
