Consumer Court finds Brand Ambassador liable for false claims

Recently actor Anoop Menon, A-One Medicals, and Dhatri Ayurveda Private Ltd were held liable for false advertising at a consumer court in Kerala. The victim Mr. Francis Vadakkan filed a case back in 2012 saying that the Dharti hair oil which promised hair growth for the consumer in six weeks was a lie. Mr. Vadakken said he was ridiculed by his family members for using the product. So, he filed a case seeking compensation of Rs 5 lakhs for humiliation and emotional distress. 

In a turn of events actor, Anoop Menon said that he endorsed the product, but did not use it himself. He also said he was just going with whatever was written in the script. The court passed orders stating the actor and Dhatri Ayurveda Private Ltd to pay a compensation of Rs. 10,000. while A-One Medicals should pay a sum of Rs. 30,000/- to Mr. Vadakken.
