Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 28th March, 2020 announced the Creation of Relief fund, where citizens can contribute the government’s fight in Combating the spread of Novel Corona Virus. PM Modi announced 21 days complete lock down till 14th April, 2020 saying that Social Distancing is the option to deal with spread of Covid-19 disease. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu contributed one month’s salary to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to combat the COVID-19 outbreak

Justice N.V. Ramana, the second senior most Justice in Supreme Court after Chief Justice S.A.Bobde, contributed 1 lakh each to PM Relief Fund, Andhra CM Relief fund and CM Relief fund of Telangana Justice Ramana requested public to abide by the instructions of the Government, to follow social distancing method to fight against Covid-19

  • Tata Trusts Donated Rs 500 crore, Tata Sons Donated another Rs 1,000 crore
  • Jyotiraditya Scindia, newly joined member of BJP announced Rs 30 lakh to the Madhya Pradesh CM’s Relief Fund
  • Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar donated Rs 25 crore to PM CARES Fund, which was announced on Saturday
  • BJP Government announced all its MPs will donate one crore from their MPLADS to the Central Relief Fund.
  • BJP National President, JP Nadda said all party MPs and MLAs donated their one month salary
  • Former BJP MLAs from Jammu and Kashmir donated one month salary to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund
  • Telangana Governor T Soundarajan donated one month’s salary to Telangana Chief Minister’s Relief Fund
  • The University Grants Commission (UGC) announced that its staff will donate one day’s salary to the Prime Minister National Relief Fund.
  • Geological Survey of India asked employees to donate one day’s salary to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF)
  • Uttarakhand Police’s officers donate two days salary and non-gazetted ranks decided to donate one day’s salary

Major Judgments of Justice N.V. Ramana at Supreme Court

  • On January 10, 2020 a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court led by Justice Ramana gave its judgment on Writ Petitions filed on Kashmir lockdown. The Bench laid down directions regarding restrictions placed under Section 144 of the CrPC, Section 144 cannot be used to curb non-violent dissent. The bench, included Justice R Subhash Reddy and Justice B R Gavai, said imposing Section 144 had consequences of violating fundamental rights of the citizens. Section 144 should be used to preserve law and order
  • Justice Ramana Bench reviewed the internet shutdown in Jammu and Kashmir, upheld that the State must protect Civil, Political liberties during Article 370 Revocation
  • Supreme Court Bench heading Justice Ramana dismissed the plea against Sena-NCP-Congress alliance in Maharashtra Government formation issue. Justice Ramana stated, “In a democracy, we cannot stop a political party from allying with another political party,”
