Delhi Riots Case: Murder Accused of IB Officer Ankit Sharma Denied Bail by the Court

The Karkardooma Court of Delhi denied bail to the accused in the brutal murder case of IB Officer Ankit Sharma. The bail was denied because his connections with co-accused persons surfaced in the rioting area through CDR analysis. The accused was in regular touch with other accused persons named Haseen @ Mullaji @ Salman and Sameer Khan.

Arguments: The bail applicant/accused Muntajim argued that he was not involved in the matter and was falsely accused for the same and the only basis was statements of the co-accused persons. Further that no CCTV footage or video captured him as a participant and no public witness identified him. He submitted that there was no direct evidence against him.

Special public prosecutor argued that it is a matter of brutal murder of a young IB Officer Ankit Sharma by the mob rioting all over and that the accused was an active member of it. The CDR activity of the accused was well within the vicinity of the rioting area and the crime spot. It was also submitted that his custody will help them get him identified by the public witnesses.

The court remarked that the custodial interrogation of the applicant is very much necessary to unearth the conspiracy for planning, instigating, and executing a riot action plan. The bail applications of the principal accused(s) Tahir Hussain and his co-accused Sameer Khan was already denied. The bail application of the accused in the matter was denied by the Additional Sessions, Judge Vinod Yadav.
