Immediate Assistance To Mentally Challenged Sexual Abuse Survivor: Haryana Legal Services Authority

In a disturbing incident, a mentally-challenged minor girl was allegedly sexually molested by a teenager.

After taking note of this incident the Hon’ble Justice, Punjab, and Haryana High Court cum Executive Chairperson, HALSA instantly released directions to the District Legal Services Authority to contact the family members and provide aid in terms of medical assistance, socio-legal counseling and interim compensation for the rehabilitation of the victim.

The victim girl was six months pregnant and during her counselling therapy, the girl and family members revealed the name of the alleged abuser. Soon after as directed by the Hon’ble court the accused child-in-conflict with the law has been sent to the Place of Safety and was provided due socio-legal counselling by a panel of advocates and medical team. 

Based on the request made by the victim through a panel of advocates provided to her by Hon’ble Court, an interim compensation amounting to Rs. 70,000/- (Rs. 50,000/- for immediate rehabilitation and Rs.20,000/- for medical expenses) has been given to the victim by Ld. Secretary, DLSA.
