India rejects Pak’s decision to grant provisional provincial status to Gilgit-Baltistan

Pak PM announced on Sunday that his Government will be granting provisional provincial status to Gilgit-Baltistan ahead of November 15 polls. Gilgit-Baltistan is an area in Pak-Occupied-Kashmir (POK), which the Pakistan has illegally occupied.

Spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs, Anurag Srivastava affirmed that POK is an integral and legal part of Indian territory and also the irrevocable accession of Jammu and Kashmir to the Union of India in 1947.  He further stated that such attempts and Pakistan’s illegal occupation cannot hide the grave human rights violations in POK.

“The Government of India firmly rejects attempt by Pakistan to bring material changes to a part of Indian Territory”, said Anurag Srivastava, MEA.

Massive protests have begun against the Pak Government in POK, with many bodies like Student Liberation Front accusing Pakistan of exploiting and stripping POK of its resources and wealth. Most opposition parties have opposed the move by the Pakistan Government. India is very clear and firm in its stance and has rejected the attempt by Pakistan to further its dubious agenda.

MEA Spokesperson also stated that Pakistan’s illegal occupation has denied the people residing in those areas, their freedom and India rejects such move.
