Kerala High Court asks for suggestions on senior designation to 8 lawyers

The HC has framed new rules for the appointment of senior advocates, which is named as Kerala High Court (Designation of Senior Advocates) Rules 2018. These new rules have been framed in the light of the guidelines and norms set by the Supreme Court on the basis of designation by the direction given in the case of Senior Advocate Indira Jaising v. Union of India. The rules state that a lawyer may be designated as ‘Senior Advocate’ in the name of the Chief Justice or any other Judge of the High Court, proposed or recommended by two senior advocates or on the application made by him. . The candidate should have at least 10 years of experience and be an income tax assessee for at least 10 years.
