In light of a complaint filed by activist Saket Gokhale, the Central Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has ordered the News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA) to issue a notice to the news channel Aaj Tak for violating norms of confidentiality in process of investigation in the Hathras rape case, despite of orders from the Allahabad High Court.
The High Court had taken suo moto cognizance of the case when the body of the rape victim was burned in the middle of the night, without her family even getting to see her, let alone performing the rituals. The case was titled, “In re: Right To Decent & Dignified Last Rites/ Cremation”
