Petition In SC Seeks Transfer of Petition for Uniform Civil Code from Delhi HC to SC

A petition has been filed before the Supreme Court, seeking transfer of the petition pending before the Delhi High Court to constitute the Judicial Commission or High Level Expert Committee of the Center to enable the Supreme Court to submit the Uniform Civil Code To be drafted.

The petition of BJP leader and advocate Ashwani Kumar Upadhyay urged that the petition be moved collectively in the Supreme Court to preserve gender justice, gender equality and dignity of women in the spirit of Articles 14, 15, 21 and 44 should go. Constitution and International Conference

The petitioner has appealed to the apex court, stating that the plurality of cases and conflicting views on the interpretation of constitutional articles and decisions on gender justice and gender equality, as other public interest litigation petitions can be filed in the ‘Uniform Civil Code’ to escape from. The PIL should be transferred and decided collectively.

The petition directs the Center to set up a judicial commission or expert committee to draft the Uniform Civil Code within 3 months, while considering all the individual laws, civil laws and best practices of international conventions and Has been published on the website. At least 60 days for extensive public debate and response.
