A petition has been moved in Supreme Court by petitioner-in-person GS Mani for giving directions to the centre and state so that they consider the demands of farmers of Punjab and Haryana who are protesting against farm laws.
The petitioner also says that to direct the centre and state to ensure proper arrangements for adequate facilities of basic needs of protesting farmers are made. And has demanded report by NHRC after inquiry about violation of right of those farmers. Further petition states that in these times it’s the failure of government who has totally failed in making the farmers aware about government’s policy on open market operations and also didn’t get the response from farmers before enacting the laws.
It also adds that it’s the duty of the centre and state to consider the demands of the farmers and “protect and fulfill the demands and reasonable right of farmers through a possible conciliatory talk with agitating farmer and to provide fundamental right of basic amenities i.e. proper shelter, accommodation, clear drinking water, food, first aid, medical facilities, sanitation, etc.”
The plea also states that– “Last 30 years, Agricultural Activities in India is getting down, day by day due to, change of climate, insufficient raining, COVID-19 and economic crisis. The Small and Poor Farmers in India alone have compelled to buy everything for their needs in retail, sell everything of their products in wholesale and put themselves and their family sufferings all the days in the year.”
