SC court rejects plea to transfer case of Sacrilege of Guru Granth sahib outside Punjab

The Supreme Court has dismissed a plea by members of the controversial Dera Sacha Sauda to transfer the sacrilege cases outside of Punjab. The apex court said that there is no reason to transfer the case for trial outside Punjab. The members of Dera Sacha Sauda were charged with sacrilege for alleged crime of tearing the pages of Guru Granth Sahib and throwing the torn pages on ground. The said Dera Sacha Sauda was headed by jailed rapist criminal Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

Members of Dera moved to the apex court to get the trial transferred to another state. The grounds of transfer was that they won’t get a fair trial in the state of Punjab and they were also getting life threats in the state.
