The Center extended the validity of driving licenses and other permits to 30 June

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has extended the validity of documents like driving license, registration, and other permits under motor vehicle laws expiring from 1 February 2020 till 30 June.

The Ministry, in an advisory sent to all states and union territories, said that they should consider such documents valid till June 30, 2021.

The said Ministry stated that all such documents which are due to expire on June 30, 2020, will be regarded valid till the said date.

The documents include fitness certificate, permit (all types), driving license, registration or any other document under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.

The decision has been taken to continue the “critical situation” due to the conditions for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

The government has asked all states and union territories to implement the advisory in the letter, so that citizens, transporters and other organizations working under this difficult time are not unduly disturbed.

The Ministry had earlier issued advisory on March 30, 9, June 24, August 24 and December 27, 2020 till March 31, 2021 regarding extension of validity of the said documents.
