The founder and director of Kerala Law Academy, Dr. Narayanan Nair died on Wednesday.
Known for establishing the Kerala Law Academy at Thiruvananthapuram, he was its Principal from 1969 to 1988, serving as its director ever since.
In particular, Dr. Nair was instrumental in establishing the National University of Advanced Legal Studies in Kochi. While serving as Vice-Chancellor of the University from 1 June to 31 December, he also served as a member of the Executive Committee of the University.
Dr. Nair completed his Bachelor (B.L.) from Government Law College, Ernakulam in 1953 and later received his Masters (LLM) and Ph.D. in Law from the University of Kerala.
He is the first Ph.D. in law from his university so far and holds the record of working as the longest-serving syndicate member in the university’s history and as a Senate member of the University of Kerala.
A member of the Bar Council since 1990, he is the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Bar Council of Kerala for the last 15 years.
