The SC extends the terms of members of the Second National Judicial Pay Commission

The Supreme Court on Friday has administered that the tenure of the members of the Second National Judicial Pay Commission is to be extended till April 30, 2021. The bench of Justices SA Bobde, CJI Justice Bopanna and Justice Ramasubramanian extended the terms of the retired Justices P.V. Reddy and R. Basant till April 30. The honorable Court has also expanded the term of the Member Secretary in matters of deputation so that he may further attend the duties of the Commission. The Commission made by the Apex Court has already submitted its report on issues of pay, pension and allowances with regards to subordinate judiciary but it is yet to submit its report regarding the issue of service conditions. The court was hearing the appeal by All India Judges Association asking for review of service conditions of the judicial officers of subordinate judiciary in India, but not limited to pay scales, retirement age, pension, and other considerations.
