Two journalists, Umesh Sharma and Shiv Prasad accused Uttarakhand CM, Trivendra Singh Rawat of being involved in activities involving corruption and filed two separate petitions for the same . The Nainital High Court in light of the charges, ordered a probe to be carried out by the CBI.
Mr Sharma levied accusations on the CM, Mr Rawat, who was the then Jharkhand in-charge of the BJP, of him transferring money to accounts of his relatives in 2016 to support an appointment of a person in that State to head the Gau Seva Ayog.
Further in the order by the HC, the bench also demanded for the FIR against the two journalists to be quashed. Exact charges of the FIR are not known.
The CM moved to the Supreme Court after the decision of the High Court challenging the CBI probe.
