Aspirants move Apex Court demanding Extra chances in UPSC during COVID

A group of 28 students who were preparing for civil services moves to Supreme Court for relief since they could not appear for the exam held in 2020 due to stringent rules that were imposed during the pandemic. They were all having the last chance to appear in the exam. Hence they filed the petition for demanding an extra attempt this year.

Concerning the demand, the divisional bench consisting of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari asked the aspirants to advance the copy of the writ petition to the Standing Counsel of the Union Public Service Commission mandatorily.

The petitioners cited the issue that made them unable to appear for the exam and said that due to restrictive protocols containment zone regulations, they could not take the exam that was held on the 4th of October last year. Therefore, they missed their last attempt due to circumstances that were beyond their control.Hearing all the issues of the petitioner, the court marked the next date for the case on the 8th of July 2021.
